Welcome to JAN's Editorial Management Team

Over recent years, JAN's Editorial Management Team has been restructured and expanded to strengthen the service offered to authors and readers.

Editor-in-Chief

Professor Alison Tierney has been JAN’s Editor-in-Chief since January 2003.

One of the main functions of the Editor-in-Chief’s role is to provide leadership to the Editorial Team and to be a spokesperson for JAN, for example in the media and at international conferences. The Editor-in-Chief oversees all of the editorial processes, arranges the contents of each issue, and arbitrates on any editorial issues as and when they arise and, on all of these matters, works closely with the Senior Editor. The Editor-in-Chief leads the ongoing strategic development of JAN.

Senior Editor

Dr Debbie Kralik joined JAN's international team of Editors in April 2003, taking on the role of Senior Editor in 2008. Debbie is Director of Research at the Royal District Nursing Service in South Australia. She is Associate Professor at the University of South Australia and University of Adelaide.

The main function of the Senior Editor is to manage all the editorial manuscript processes. The Editor receives all papers submitted to JAN, appoints an Editor and two or three reviewers, including subject and statistical experts, liaises with the Editors and Editor-in-Chief to confirm acceptances and rejections.

Editors

Editors are assigned papers by the Senior Editor. They then assess every paper in conjunction with the reviewers’ comments and make preliminary decisions about acceptances and rejections before sending the manuscripts on to the Senior Editor. The Editors work with authors to ensure that all accepted papers meet the high publishing standards of JAN.

The international team of Editors working on JAN has been considerably expanded.
